Long Weekends

Even though I have been retired for ages, I love long weekends. I am always busy during the week but try to do little on weekends, just to put some definition into my life, otherwise every day is very much like the other. Long weekends are special though.

The family is fortunate to have a holiday house on the south coast of NSW and this is a destination for as many weekends as we can manage, but a definite must on long weekends.
This Labor Day long weekend we are all here, our girls, their partners plus our two granddogs are filling the house with their joyful presence. We have laughed a lot and there is the usual teasing and leg pulling. Then there is the food. We all enjoy cooking and eating and when we are together excesses happen.

It is the grand final weekend. AFL yesterday and NRL today. The boys decided that seeing it is football we should eat meat. Yesterday we had meat pies and frankfurts - not a green vegetable in sight! Today we had a delicious smorgasbord lunch but tonight we are going to feast on more meat, barbecued this time. As requested I've also made a pavlova - the strawberries, raspberries and blueberries plus the whipped cream will help balance out the food groups!

Tomorrow is another sleeping-in day and then my husband and the kids are back to the daily grind. Getting away, being together and having fun is wonderful. I have had a lovely time.
